A Level Engineering

Duration: 2 years

Course Type: BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate.

Course Title:

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in engineering.

This is a 2 year qualification in Engineering. It is equivalent to 1 A level award. Students will study 4 units of work over 2 years.

Unit 1 is a 120 GLH section which is externally assessed in a 2 hours long examination. It is based on scientific and mathematical engineering calculations.

Unit 2 is the delivery of engineering processes safely as a team award. It is a 60GLH unit, assessed as a piece of NEA (course work)

Unit 3 is a 120GLH section, based on engineering product design and manufacture. A brief is set by the Board, and students respond in a limited time space.

Unit 10 is a CAD unit. Students complete 3 NEA assignments using CAD packages Techsoft 2D Draw, and the industry standard 3D package, Solid Works.
